Go Ask Alice

In honor of My Bloggy Friends ( Karla :) ) who like Alice in Wonderland and are going to see Tim Burton's new version of it, I hunted deep into my bedroom closet, in the last box I looked into, to drag out my childhood memento's of Alice for your viewing pleasure :)

My Great Auntie bought me a lot of these Disney movie books, and would read them to me. :) I personally thought "Alice in Wonderland" was creepy, with weird undertones. The critters in the forest seemed to have no purpose, other than to annoy and mess with our sweet Alice. The cat was cool though. He was PINK and PURPLE. How could I not love that ? :) :) Although he was the worst tormentor of our heroine. The Caterpillar with the Hooka Pipe ? ummmmmm, what's up with that ???
And the Queen ?? Well, as Jar Jar Bing would say " How RRRRRRUUUUUUUUUDE" She was mean and frightened me. I felt so sorry for the Card men.
Now, the bunny was an ok sort of guy. But again, not in touch with reality. Here is a human girl chasing you all over the place, and you haven't even been properly introduced. Bit weird................Really.........

I must have liked Said Bunny, as I found this rubber Bunny toy in my Crown Royal bag. Did she just say, "Crown Royal bag" ? lol !! Well, Yepsie, I did. It was in the 70's when I received this book and Mr. Rabbit . Back when they had cocktail parties, and the before dinner drink. My Aunt and Uncle always had a toddy before dinner, and Crown Royal must have been a favorite, because in my toy box at their house, I had my treasures stored in Crown Royal bags. :) I still have one bag with treasures inside.

Did you notice I seemed to have chewed poor Mr. Rabbits ears ? Well, I think it might have been fair play really, considering the chase he led poor Alice on. That or maybe I was just hungry at the time:)

No, we probably wont be going to see this new movie.

But you can, and be sure to tell me all about it :)

Hugs,

Rhea

I'm going to see it tomorrow or Wed at the IMAX in 3D. Should be fun!

I've always thought Disney movies were a bit scary/dark.

Well Alice, Poor girl, I think she could use a bit of rehab. Taking pills and drinking things to make her bigger and smaller and seeing all the strange people/animals in the forest.

I too love the cat!

Hugs,
Joanne

we had crown royal bags! purple flannel like fabric with gold lettering! My father must have drank it. my sister also had those disney books. Are they thin and tall books?
I did go see Alice sunday night and LOVED it! there were a few little parts that maybe would be too scarey for little kids.
have a sweet day!

OMG!!! I have the same golden Book. I have a collection of Golden books put away for future Grand kids to enjoy some day. They are up in the attic but I should get them out as they are so pretty and colorful! Thanks for reminding me of that!

Dear Miss Rhea,

I agree, and think the book is a bit dark and quite weird! I am not going to see the movie either. I enjoyed your post, and seeing your cute bunny with chewed ears!

Love, Paula

I'm with you, Rhea. It is a tad creepy and I have no interest in seeing the movie. But I do still have an Alice watch with a black felt band that I treasure. Mine isn't in a Crown Royal bag, tho!LOL

I LOVE how you titled this post. Very very clever. ;o)

I saw the movie a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it. But I like everything directed by Tim Burton.
