LIFE IS NOT MEASURED BY THE NUMBER OF BREATHS WE TAKE, BUT BY THE MOMENTS THAT TAKE OUR BREATH AWAY.

Three Years Smoke Free !!

Came across this AWFUL picture of Ed ( Hubby ), Jeff ( Our Son ) and I SMOKING yucky, smelly, dirty cigarettes !!!!! ( Nothing worse than an ex smoker ! ) We were at Disneyland polluting up the air. :) Look at that scowl , lol !! Well, I wasn't really scowling, just squinting in the bright sun. Anyhoo, we are Three and a half years Smoke Free !!! And I have to say, if I had known it would be that easy, I would have quit 25 years ago ! Seriously. I started smoking when I was 14, and quit at 40. I quit cold turkey. I ended up in the hospital with a rapid heart rate and it scared the pants off of me. So, that was it. It was rough for about two weeks, and then, the smell of it on others made me sick, YUCK !! Then you don't want it at all. So......... ( nag, nag, nag :) )..................... PLEEEEEEEEEEASE Dont smoke !! Make today your last day. You can do it !! :)

Hugs,

Rhea

Whoooo Hoooo! I'm sooo happy for you!

I've never smoked...not one tiny cig. I'm glad I never started...if it's anything like the addiction :) of BLOGGING I'm afraid I'd be doomed.

Kidding~

I'm happy for you!

I never smoked a day in my life and I never will I watched my mother die from smoking a pak a day for 60 plus years she died when she was 86, it was a painful death ,lung cancer is not a pretty way to die.I miss my mother more than I can put into words, part of her eulogy was about quitting, I got several to quit that day.
I am very very happy for you and your family.
Congratulations!!

Good for you guys! I wish everyone would quit. I can not stand to be around anyone smoking. The smell on them right after they smoked is so bad! YUCK!

Joanne

Congratulations!!!

It's been 13 years for me and I've never been sorry I quit....well, except for the weight gain.

I quit cold turkey too but I had the flu at the time. When I felt better, I kept trying to light up, buy it tasted awful. Then, it finally hit me.....WHAT ARE YOU DOING??

Never smoked again. And you are right, it smells terrible. If I had known I smelled that bad I would have quit earlier, too.

I agree, it's not that hard to quit. I also started young and quit cold turkey when I found out I was pregnant and that was over 20 years ago.

I'm able to enjoy an occasional cigarette (maybe 3 or 4 a year) but don't have to smoke as a habit. Freedom of choice is quite liberating!

Congratulations! I quit in 1984 at the age of 24 because I began wheezing and it really scared me ~ it's amazing that fear can actually have a positive effect sometimes. My 21 yr. old daughter just quit a few weeks ago due to being hospitalized with H1N1 and pneumonia. She realized she'd better be grateful for her lungs and take care of herself. We were so happy she quit that we gladly fulfilled her wish of owning a Corgi puppy!

Congrats, Rhea. I never started, but I'm pretty compulsive so I know it would have been hard to stop. I watched Kenny stop about 5 yrs. ago ~ he can tell you almost to the minute how long it has been. Sure do wish we could get Bree to stop!

I'm so happy for you! Congratulations! I never tried to smoke because I was scared that I might get hooked. So many people in my famlily smoked when I was a kid and I always hated it. Several of them died of cancer. I wish that my mom would stop...she didn't start until she was in her 30's. She has cut back some...maybe she will stop soon.

Hello sweet Rhea,

good for you! Congrats!! I never smoked, and neither do my kids. Hubby still smokes occasionally, when he can sneak one! He just had a stent put in around May. He has cut down a lot, but he didn't quit completely. :(
