Lazy Summer Days

Here in the West, the Summer is our hibernation period. While most of you are relishing long warm days, with no snow, we are " Warmed" in. Temperatures this last few weeks are in the teens, 110's to 116's. So, if you aren't awake and out doing your errands before 9 am, forget it !! lol. By noon, when the mailman comes, I have scalded and blistered the bottom of my feet, when in my excitement left my shoes inside in a rush to get some new treasure. Ouch !!! Seat belts can give third degree burns. And at ten o'clock at night, it is still over 100 degrees. However, I must say, that this only lasts four months and the rest of the year is beautiful !!! So, while forced inside I decided to start redecorating a few rooms . I haven't gotten very far, lol. I have lots of items in the garage for painting and I went " Shopping" in there and found this old yellow washstand that my Mom had found at the curb.
It really was pretty, and I have debated for awhile whether or not to paint it, but decided it would be better served gracing the sitting room, then drying out in our hot garage. So, a little muscle , some paint and a few hours and Voila' !! I LOVE IT !!!
And the really great thing is our cheesy linoleum floors. I can sit and paint in air conditioning, with no drop cloths and just a wet rag to catch drips. lol !!! Instant gratification !!! I also pulled out a few shelves for that room from the garage. One to house dolls, and one to house vintage plates. They aren't done yet as the washstand set me back physically for a few days. However, look at the great plates I got on ebay for $11 plus shipping !!! Come to Mama !!! All but one of the violet plates I bought last week from one vendor. Wow, Score !!!! $11 for All !!!

I bought this sweet Lady Head vase at the thrift store the other day. Sweet !!!!

And just a pretty vignette of my favorite vintage card. These are just a few things I have added to this room.

A cake plate I made, marrying a pretty hobnail pink glass candle holder to a vintage roses plate. It holds a sweet heart that my Sweet friend Shirl made me for Valentines day.

And some baby things I painted for ebay last week. Sweet vintage baby shoes and wooden baby hangers.

So, that was my Lazy summer week, trying to stay cool. :)

Hugs,

Rhea
