Everything is Coming Up Violet !!!

I have always loved Violets, and Pansies. It just says spring and happy days to me. I am redecorating our Family/ Sitting room in pinks and greens, as apposed to the lavender and green that was in there. Not a big change, just need something new to look at as I am stuck inside the house most days with my illness. I hope to have the room done in a few weeks. I thought, Oh No, now where will I put my violets ??? I decided to combine my scattered collection and just stick it all in this sweet shelf that my 70 year old Father in Law made in shop, back in grammar school. This sweet little shelf is 58 years old !! My husband and FIL cringed a bit when I painted it white and shabbied it up a few years ago, you know, Men and their wood !! lol But gosh, I love the little thing and what a waste to sit in our garage all icky and brown and unloved. I even stuck on some sweet vintage rose handles. :) So, my logic won out and I think my FIL is just happy that I am proud of his handiwork and love the little shelf of his. :) Now, where I will put the shelf in the house I have no idea, but it is filled with things I love, and and now is a new home for my violets . :) You can click on the photos for larger views.

Sweet baby composition doll I refurbished. love her rosy cheeks and pretty blue eyes.

Some sweet vintage velvet pansies on an old Nippon plate.

I am rounding up some pretty things for Pink Saturday, and Vintage ephemera for Show and Tell Sunday. Cant wait to see all of your goodies !!!

Hugs,

Rhea

Miss Rhea, you must share how you convinced your DH about painting the wood...we once decorated country/folk art i have lots of chimney cupboards and pie safes that i am dying to paint...MY DH looks like he is about to faint at the mere mention and his answer is a firm no...followed by "you can't paint _______" {whatever the particular wood is...MEN!!! i love how your shelf looks and your doll is ever so sweet:)

Oh my sweet rhea chick, all of who know you well know how much you've suffered this past year and if this makes you happy then do it, honey!! Of course, it is beyond gorgeous!! I also can understand why you'd want to display that old shelf! It's fantastic and your FIL should be thrilled you'd want it in your home, sweetpea! No matter what you do it is always exquisite, tasteful and soooooo Rhea! Haven't been in groups yet. Want to savor it later this morning, but I'm hoping you're doing well and I see something aqua coming your way......hmmmmmmm, now what could that be?!?!?! ;-)
Smoochies ray-ray,
Connie

Violets are so overlooked, aren't they? Those roses just hog all of the attention while the sweet demure violets sit there ever so sweetly waiting for someone to notice their happy faces!!

I am having my first give away to celebrate my 100th!! Please stop by and sign up. It would look lovely on your beautiful shelf!
