Christmas at Mom's

We spent Christmas at my Mom's House this year, as I am still recovering from surgery. This is the first time in ten years that Christmas and Thanksgiving weren't at my house. It was nice being a guest, but next year, look out Martha Stewart !! This is a picture of my sweet mom, and my father in Law. My Mother in law went to California to my Sister in Laws house for Christmas. My FIL has had several surgeries on his shoulder, which makes it hard for him to travel, so we were lucky that we got " custody " of him this year, They are cutting into the pies !! Yum !!
This is my son, choosing his slice (or three, lol ) of pie. Nice hair Jeff !!! lol. He got a little crazy with the clippers the other day. :)

Here is my Hubby ( HUNK ) stuffed and content on the couch. Cant fit one more bit of food into him, poor guy.
Oh, look at the goodies I got for Christmas !! A great old Irmi Nursery lamp !! My mom and I saw that out running one day, and I fell in love with it. She went back and got it for me. Sweet Mom, thank You !! She also bought me the violets plate and teensy tiny tea cup ornament. Is that not adorable ?? She got the ornament at TJ Maxx, can you believe it ?? It looks like an old piece of china. Cant wait to rewire and clean the lamp up and use it. I am thinking pink and white dotted swiss to redo the shade with, I plan on saving and reusing the ruffles on the shade. Cute !!!!!

This pretty Vintage Costume brooch is what Ed got me. I found it online and am waiting for it to be delivered. Isn't it a beauty ?? Thank You Honey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On to the great decorations at Mom's house. My Great Grandmother Della, made this old tree, back in the 40's out of metal oil funnels and mercury glass beads. I LOVE THIS !! Great Grandma also made all of the felt ornaments, she must have made HUNDREDS as both my mom and myself have quite a stash of them, and she gave tons of them away every year. My mother made the cardboard felt trees to display them. I hang mine all over my tree. :)

My mom's friend made her this box, filled with tiny miniatures that reflect my mothers tastes and hobbies. It folds up int a box when not opened, the square with the ribbon on it is the lid. Many hours were put into this piece.

Here are a few egg ornaments that I made in the 70's. She has a little tree just full of them, but those pictures all came out blurry. Yep, those are real eggs !!
And finally , my view from the floor. I got a bit sore and had to lie down, but kept taking pictures anyways. hee, hee. Check out my FIL's new train book. He Loved that !! We were watching Survivorman on TV and making fun of the poor guy. lol
Jeff, is that a booger ?? lol
Yep, mom, you really DID steal poor Charlie Brown's tree. Shame on you !!!
So that was Our Christmas, How was Yours ???????
Hugs,
Rhea

Rhea, what a perfect Christmas. Wish you didn't have to spend it on the floor though. Great pix and that lamp is soooo cute. I've seen those in antique shops, but did not know the name for them. Are you looking for any particular theme? Let me know and I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. Thanks for sharing your special day.

Rhea, believe it or not, I thought about you laying on the floor somewhere Christmas Day!!!!

Thanks so much for sharing the pics of your family. I'm so glad you all had such a nice day.

Your gifts are all wonderful. I love that Irmi lamp. I had one of these (I guess) for Bree when she was little in her nursery, but I didn't know what they were called. Yours is tres chic ~ very French / Marie Antoinette-ish!! I love it!

Your great grandmother's felt ornaments are so special. I'm glad you & your mother are treasuring them. Think anyone will still have yours & mine 50-100 yrs. from now? I do hope so!!

BTW, love your mother's sofa. I'm so needing a new one & the "cottage look" just isn't happening around here!

This was such a sweet post ~ one of my favorites!

Love you,
Stephanie
