Pink Saturday Decembr 4th, 2009

Happy Pink Saturday !! Thank you Miss Beverly , Our Sweet Host !! :)

This week I want to share a Pink Memory. I have shared this story before, but it is even more special to me as I age, to remember this lovely lady. My Great Grandmother Della Repetto. GG came over when she was young from Sicily. She met and married my GG and lived happily ever after. Truly !!

When I was a kid she was ALWAYS sewing on her sweet felt ornaments. She had the prettiest sequins in her organizing box, and could talk to you and add each little bead and sequin and not miss a note. She made HUNDREDS of these and gave each of us lots for our own homes, and to people she knew. I started making them about ten years ago, to give to friends and family. I am not anywhere near as fast as she was, but I have made Lots of them myself. And enjoy making each one as much as I did the first. I am sure she must have felt that way too.

Here are a few of mine,

And here are a few of Great Grandmothers :)

That pink cross is my very favorite that she ever made :)

Happy Pink Saturday !!

Hugs,

Rhea

  2. Happy Pink Saturday Rhea! Your ornaments are just so sweet! I wish I could sew; maybe I could if I had a sewing machine, who knows? Your GG's ornaments are simply wonderful too. I'm glad you were able to follow in her footsteps and make them too. They are very unique. Thanks for sharing.

  22. I don't ever tire of hearing that story about your GG's pretty little felt ornies! She, you and I are all alot alike ~ making these so relaxes me ~ although mine aren't nearly as beautiful as yours. We do share the common thread of sewing love into each of them tho, don't we?!?!

I'm going to send you an email in just as sec!

  23. What sweet memories and it is so nice to have a creative art that you feel has been passed down to you from GG. My grandparents both emigrated to America from Sicily and married once in America. I don't have any heirlooms from my grandparents, but I have memories of my grandmother. Very dear ones.
